DOUBLE SWEET

The Webster City baseball team capped off the week with a pair of convincing wins, besting Iowa Falls-Alden, 20-7, and Pocahontas Area, 10-0.

In the win over the Cadets last Friday, the Lynx (8-6 overall) plated 13 runs in the final two innings, including eight in the seventh. Keegan Hisler was 5-for-6 with a double, driving in six runs and scoring twice.

Jaxon Griffith scored five times from the leadoff spot and both Josh Stansfield and Josh Griep drove in three.

Trevyon Lyons was 5-for-6 with two runs and an RBI, as Matthew Tesdahl scored three times and had two hits. Gavin Griffith struck out six over six innings of work.

In the win over Pocahontas Area, Alex Staley pitched all five innings, striking out eight while allowing just four hits. Briar Klaver scored three times and drove in two more with Braylon Dyvig recording two hits and an RBI.

Kaleb Hansen scored twice and both Hisler and Dyvig stole a base.

Webster City has now scored 20 runs in two games this year and has reached double digits in five total.

The Lynx host Hampton-Dumont/CAL on Monday, travel to Algona Wednesday and host Boone on Friday to close out a busy week.
