Webster City boys advance on the links

LIVERMORE — The Webster City golf team advanced to the Class 3A district meet after placing third in a Class 3A sectional at Spring Valley on Wednesday.

North Polk (296) was the team champion, as Humboldt (304) was the runner up and the Lynx (307) were right behind.

The Lynx placed three golfers in the Top-10. Cael Nixon (73) tied for sectional runner up, Braden Doering (74) was fifth and Braylon Plain (75) was ninth. Dawson Bertran (85) placed 28th.

Nixon shot par (36) on the back nine and one-over (37) on the front. Nixon eagled the par-five fifth hole. Nixon finished with pars and an eagle on the front and eight pars on the back.

Doering finsihed with four birdies.

Humboldt’s Carson Sleiter (73) was the runner up, while North Polk’s Jacob Eagan (71) was the meet-medalist.

Classmate Cade Birdsell (75) placed fifth, while Corey Dettmann (77) was 12th and Parker Sleiter and Carson Arndt tied for 15th with 79s.
