Lynx drop a pair of matches

The Webster City girls finished off last week with a pair of losses to Humboldt and Boone.

Jillian Symens had the lone goal in a 3-1 North Central Conference loss to the Wildcats on the road. Ashlee Nydegger recorded an assist on the Symens goal.

“The girls battled hard but we couldn’t convert our chances and that’s what it comes down to in close games like this,” WCHS head coach Kristine Mason said. “It’s the most physical I’ve seen us play this year and I think it’s because they really wanted this one.

“Jill almost always seems to find a way to get one in the back of the net to give us that extra bit of hope. We’re really going to need someone to step up into that role next year.”

The Lynx dropped a 6-1 decision to Boone in a non-conference affair at home last Friday as the Toreadors scored five in the second half to break a 1-1 tie.

Webster City hosts Fort Dodge on Tuesday before taking on Humboldt on Wednesday in a Class 1A, Region 2 contest.
