CLARION — The Webster City boys track and field team placed fifth here at the North Central Conference meet.

Algona claimed team honors followed by Clear Lake, Humboldt and Iowa Falls-Alden.

Senior Jaxon Cherry continued his strong run in the throwing events, winning the discus while taking second in the shot put. Cherry had a throw of 169-5, over 10 feet ahead of runner-up Max Nevitt from Algona.

In the shot put, he finished just two feet back of Nevitt.

Jayden Weinzetl was a runner-up in the 200, adding a fifth in the 100.

The distance medley relay for the Lynx placed second overall.

Justin Callahan was third in the 800 with Jack Barner finishing fourth in the 1,600 and sixth in the 3,200.

Keegan Hisler was fourth in the high jump with the 4×100 also placing fourth.

Webster City competes Thursday in a state-qualifier hosted by Clear Lake.
