Webster City girls tennis falls to Iowa Falls-Alden

IOWA FALLS — The Webster City girls tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision here Tuesday to Iowa Falls-Alden.

Picking up the lone win for the Lynx was sophomore Alivia Burns, as she posted a 10-7 victory at the No. 5 single spot.

The doubles team of Perla Torres and Gabbie Sebert pushed their match to a tiebreak, falling 11-10 (7-2).

“I was happy with the way we played,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “I thought all of the matches were a lot closer than the scores. That was a very veteran Iowa Falls-Alden team with several players on their fourth year of varsity.

“I was really impressed with how Alivia came out and dominated her match.”

The Lynx return to action on Friday when they host Dike-New Hartford.

Webster City lost the boys dual, 9-0, to the Cadets. They return to action Thursday vs. North Polk.
