Webster City girls shut out Greene County, 6-0

The Webster City girls soccer team moved above the .500 mark with a convincing 6-0 victory over Greene County last Friday night.

Jayme Perez recorded a hat trick for the Lynx, adding an assist. Jillian Symens, Kamey Stanley and Mia Hansen each found the back of the net.

Symens also had a pair of assists with Stanley and Hansen adding one each.

“This was a good non-conference confidence boost for the girls,” WCHS head coach Kristine Mason said. “After not playing our best soccer on Monday, we had a few really productive training sessions that allowed us to reset and refocus on the technical work we’ve been putting in all season. We were possessing, combining, and playing together.

“Jayme was the standout performance. She’s always up there creating chances and combinations, but she took our directive to take more shots and it paid off with a hat trick; she was pivotal in all of our offensive play.”

Hansen, taking the place of the injured Janey Putney, “had a phenomenal game,” Mason said.

“I look forward to continue watching her grow,” she added. “Kamey Stanley played a great game and put one in the back of the net right after telling me that’s exactly what she intended to do.”

The win snapped a two-match losing skid for the Lynx, who return to the pitch Monday when they host Clear Lake.
