Webster City girls fall to North Polk at the net

The Webster City girls tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to North Polk Monday evening.

Alivia Burns pushed her singles match to a super-tiebreaker after winning the first set, 6-4. She lost in the tiebreaker, 10-8, to Becca Aagard.

Burns and Hailey Brim, along with Perla Torres and Gabbie Sebert, each won five games total in doubles.

“Give a ton of credit to North Polk, that’s a very good squad they have there,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “You could see that coming last year as they had a lot of young players that were just on the cusp, and they took a real big step forward this year so far. They’ll be tough all season.

I know I sound like a bit of a broken record, but our girls are young and many just started playing recently. We are getting better every day.”
