Webster City boys in action at Jefferson

JEFFERSON — The Webster City boys brought a select few athletes here Monday to the Ram Relays in hopes of qualifying for the Drake Relays.

Jaxon Cherry earned a silver and a bronze in the throwing events to lead the way, placing second in the shot put and third in the discus.

Justin Callahan was third in the 400 hurdles with the 4×100 finishing third and 4×200 fourth. Jaxon Griffith, Keegan Hisler, Aiden Hrnicek and Jayden Weinzetl ran both relays.

Brandon Lahr was fifth in the shot put.

“We were not able to better our season bests with the 4×1 or Jaxon in the shot or discus,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “Brandon had his best toss of the year, though, and Justin a PR in the 400.

“We competed hard and medaled in all the events we were in.”

Webster City returns to action on Friday at Pocahontas. The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.
