Webster City boys earn tennis triumph vs. H-D/C

Tyler Vasquez and Jesse Toftee came through for the Webster City boys tennis team, as the Lynx downed Hampton-Dumont/CAL by a final of 5-4.

Vasquez and Toftee earned a 7-3 tiebreaker victory at the No. 2 doubles spot with the meet score tied at 4-all.

Hank Christenson and Rogan Nepereny were also victorious at No. 1 doubles, 9-7, with Nepereny, Christenson, and Vasquez all earning wins in singles.

The wins by Nepereny and Christenson came at the No. 1 and 2 singles positions.

“It was great to see Hank and Rogan and Tyler all get victories and be a big part of the team win,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “Those three have worked harder than anyone on the boys team this season, have bought into what we’re trying to do and have improved everyday.

“Proud of them all for battling in the doubles, too. This was a good, hard-fought win and hopefully a confidence booster for the boys team.”

Next action for Webster City will be Tuesday when they travel to Aplington-Parkersburg. The varsity meet is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m.
