Lynx girls finish busy stretch

The Webster City girls tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Dike-New Hartford to conclude a busy stretch of action last week.

Hailey Brim scored the lone win for the Lynx, as the sophomore picked up a 10-4 decision at the No. 6 singles spot.

Gabbie Sebert pushed at the four-spot before falling, 10-8, while Morgan Hackbarth dropped a tough 10-5 decision at No. 5 singles.

At No. 3 doubles, Brim and Hackbarth battled to a 10-6 loss.

“Bit short handed as this was our last meet before Kinzey Koestner rejoins the team and we also were missing Aliva Burns,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “But really loved the way our girls competed against a D-NH team that’s always good and well seasoned.

“We still have a lot of growing to do, obviously, but I keep seeing the progress. It was great to see Hailey come out and play so well.

“Morgan stepping into her first varsity action did very well. and even had an early lead. She just missed some shots late and let her girl dictate a little bit, but played really well. And Gabbie Sebert continues to impress and grow as a freshman.”

The Lynx are back in action Monday at Boone.
