The Webster City girls golf squad continues to work on both the little things and the bigger picture as they prepare for the 2024 campaign.

Head coach William Bertran welcomes five letterwinners — including three seniors — back to the lineup card this spring. Claire Bailey and Kennedy Halling competed in every meet a year ago for the Lynx, with Ava Peterson also returning with plenty of varsity experience.

Sophomores Claryssa Hanson and Alleyna Dawson saw the course regularly last season and earned varsity letters.

“We will continue to learn the game of golf and the life skills it offers, such as sportsmanship, confidence, patience, honesty, controlling emotions, mental toughness and being coachable,” Bertran said. “We also want to continue to promote (being a) multi-sport athlete, and defeat the idea that a golf swing will ruin your softball swing.”

Bailey had a low nine-hole round of 50 last season. Halling carded a 54, with Peterson carding a 58.

Junior Sophie Dinsdale and sophomores Marley Runyan, Ellie Peterson and Kenley Koop round out the Lynx roster.

Webster City’s lone scheduled home meet is a North Central Conference triangular on April 19 against Clarion-Goldfield/Dows and Hampton-Dumont/CAL. The team opens its season on Tuesday at Manson Northwest Webster.
