The Webster City boys sent their seniors out with a bang, posting a 64-62 victory over Boone.

Before the tip, the Lynx honored Braden Doering, Jack Larson, Kaleb White, Jace Larson, Trevyn Lyons, Briar Klaver, Brandon Lahr and Jaxon Cherry.

Fueled by a 23-point second quarter, Webster City (7-14 overall) was able to hold off a late charge from the Toreadors (3-17) in the regular-season finale.

Lyons sealed the victory with a steal as the Lynx held a 62-59 advantage. He proceeded to knock down both free throws before Boone hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

“It was a little too close for comfort,” WCHS head coach Brett Ratcliff said. “But I’m happy for the seniors. It’s always good to end the season at home with a win and to send those guys out with a win.

“They have led our program not just on the court but off it. That’s what you need from your senior leaders: For them to show those younger guys the right way.”

Jack Larson had a double-double, scoring 15 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. Klaver had 15 points with eight assists and six rebounds, while White scored 10 on a perfect shooting night from the floor.

Jace Larson finished with eight points, seven rebounds and blocked two shots, with Doering dishing out four assists. White and Lyons each had three steals, with Lahr chipping in four points.

For Boone, Reid Carr and Jude Baumgardner both scored 15.

The Lynx took on Ballard Monday night in the opening round of Class 3A substate play.
