The Webster City girls ran into a hot-shooting Humboldt here Friday night, falling 68-31.

Marissa Hedeen knocked down four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 12 points while Olivia Gallentine and Alivia Burns each had six.

Hedeen recorded five rebounds, with both Gallentine and Joleah Stuhr grabbing four.

“I have to give Humboldt a ton of credit,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “They are a very good team and Morgan Mann is an excellent player. They came out with a lot of energy, shot the ball well and defended well.”

Mann, a junior who earlier this year became the school’s career scoring leader, had a game-high 32 points.

Humboldt went up 32-13 after the first quarter and led 53-16 at the break. Webster City outscored the Wildcats in the third, 8-7.

“I need to do a better job of preparing our girls,” Fisher said. “I needed a better game plan for Mann and their shooters, and needed to help us out more on offense with their pressure.

“I will give our girls credit because I was really happy with the way they came out of the halftime engaged. They competed in the second half and worked for every possession.”

Stuhr also had four points with Izzy Grossoehme adding two.

The Lynx hosted Newton on Monday night.
