BOONE — Veteran leadership led the South Hamilton boys to an impressive postseason victory here Tuesday night.

Senior Ryland Ubben scored 30 points as the Hawks rallied past Pleasantville in a Class 2A, District 8 basketball final, 65-57.

South Hamilton (18-4 overall) now meets unbeaten Underwood (22-0) on Saturday night in Waukee. The Eagles fought past East Sac County to advance, 61-51.

Pleasantville (14-10) took control early, building a six-point lead at the end of the first period. Behind 15 points from Ubben, though, South Hamilton battled back, cutting the deficit down to 29-28 at the break.

Senior Reece Ricke added 13 points in the victory.

The Trojans, who knocked off Roland-Story last week, led by two going into the fourth before Ubben and his teammates took over.

South Hamilton prepared itself for a tough postseason run with games vs. Carroll Kuemper and Roland-Story late in the year. They downed West Central Valley in the opening round to move on.
