Memorable win for Lynx girls on Senior Night
Mark Fisher said there was no better way to honor the senior members of the Webster City girls.
And he was right.
The Lynx put together their most complete game of the season here Thursday night, besting Perry, 61-52.
Alivia Burns scored 13 with Joleah Stuhr adding 11 as Webster City honored its three seniors Addyson Beaulieu, Caitlyn Gapp and Stuhr.
“Great way to honor our girls on Senior Night,” Fisher said. “Real team effort as everyone contributed something to the game. I thought our tempo and our pace really gave them problems, especially in the first half.
“You could really see them wearing down in the fourth quarter where we were able to really dictate our pace.”
Ady Poppen scored eight points and grabbed nine offensive rebounds, finishing with a team-high 16, Olivia Gallentine had nine points and Beaulieu added nine points with six boards.
“Defensively, we were able to get some good pressure on them and force them into some mistakes,” Fisher said. “But again really loved the pace we played with, both up the court and our attacking mentality.
“Really loved how hard we hit the offensive glass. Ady Poppen was sensational on the glass tonight with her 16 rebounds. It was great to see Olivia not only controlling the game and the pace, but coming away with six assists and no turnovers to show the work she’s put in.
“Just a lot of things to be happy with.”
Izzy Grossoehme added five points while Marissa Hedeen and Tristyn Wright each ahd three.
Webster City heads to Gilbert on Wednesday to begin Class 4A regional play.
