Wildcats pull away from Lynx boys

HUMBOLDT — The Webster City boys could not keep pace with rival Humboldt here Friday night, dropping an 83-58 road decision in a North Central Conference matchup.

Briar Klaver scored 21 points to lead the way for the Lynx, while Braden Doering added 16.

After an even first quarter at 16, the Wildcats (7-2 overall) got hot from the field in the second period, outscoring Webster City, 25-8.

Webster City has dropped three straight since a four-point win over Clarion-Goldfield/Dows last month. They had won three straight over the Wildcats.

For Humboldt, Evan Hatcher had 23 points, Coen Matson 20 and Elliot Carlson 18.

The Lynx host Southeast Valley on Tuesday. Varsity boys tip is set for 7:45 p.m.
