Lynx sweep in home triangular; go 4-1 at Roland-Story

The Webster City wrestling team earned a pair of home victories on Thursday, as the Lynx took down Nashua-Plainfield and Forest City.

The Lynx edged N-P, 39-35, then took care of the Indians, 55-18.

Pins by Landon Griffin (285), Carson Doolittle (126), Gavin Wynkoop (138), Luke Estlund (175) and Carson Bertran (190) fueled Webster City with bonus points in the opening bout. Linden Phetxoumphone (113), Dawson Bertran (132) and Tristan Mason (150) also won by decision for the Lynx.

Phetxoumphone, Doolittle, Dawson Bertran, Blake Berninghaus (144), Isaac Firsching (165), Estlund and Carson Bertran all posted falls in the second dual. Mason won by major decision, while Eli Estlund (215) and Griffin (285) picked up decisions.

Webster City then went 4-1 on Saturday at the Roland-Story Norsemen dual tournament for runner-up honors, with victories over OABCIG (69-6), Central Decatur (69-12), Roland-Story (44-34) and Saydel (74-6). Champion Hampton-Dumont/CAL handed the Lynx their only loss at 44-27.

Phetxoumphone had a 5-0 day at 113 pounds for Webster City, as did Doolittle, Mason and Eli Estlund. Griffin was 2-0.

Luke Estlund and Blake Berninghaus was 4-1. Jake Rohmiller (175) and Carson Bertran went 3-2.

Webster City now heads to Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Tuesday for a Class 2A regional dual meet. The Lynx first face Glenwood at 6 p.m.
