Lynx edged by Humboldt before sticking Cadets

The Webster City wrestling team recorded a split during action at the North Central Conference triangular here last Thursday night.

The Lynx fell to Humboldt, 36-28, before bouncing back to down Iowa Falls-Alden, 67-9.

Linden Phetxoumphone, Carson Doolittle, Tristan Mason, Isaac Firsching, Carson Bertran and Landon Griffin were all winners in the dual with the Wildcats. Doolittle, Bertran and Griffin each recorded falls, including a 58-second pin by Griffin at heavyweight.

Phetxoumphone won by major decision while Mason and Firsching earned decisions.

In the dual with the Cadets, Angel Ramirez, Phetxoumphone, Brayden Burtnett, Doolittle, Gavin Wynkoop, Dawson Bertran, Blake Berninghaus, Landon Vaughn, Luke Estlund, Firsching, Bertran and Griffin were all winners. Phetxoumphone, Vaughn, Estlund, Firsching, Bertran and Griffin won by pin.

Jayden Weinzetl and Ayden Elliott each had two wins in junior varsity action for the Lynx with Cody Elliott and Maurice Anderson adding one.

Webster City now prepares for Saturday and the North Central Conference meet hosted by Clear Lake.
