Busy stretch for Lynx wrestlers on the road

The Webster City wrestling team capped off a busy three-day stretch of action with a fourth-place finish on Saturday at the Allie Morrison Duals in Marshalltown.

Wins over Cedar Falls and Des Moines Roosevelt pushed the Lynx up the final standings. They were bested by eventual winner Johnston, North Polk and the host Bobcats by a single point.

Carson Doolittle and Adrian Phetxoumphone each went 5-0, with Angel Ramirez, Isaac Firsching, Luke Estlund, Carson Bertran and Landon Griffin winning three matches.

Gavin Wynkoop, Blake Berninghaus, Tristan Mason and Eli Estlund all won two matches each.

Doolittle, a three-time third place state medalist, had three falls, a technical fall and a forfeit.

Last Thursday, the Lynx went 1-1 during action in Fort Dodge against North Central Conference foes St. Edmond and Algona. Webster City picked up a 72-12 decision over the host Gaels and was bested by the Bulldogs, 42-32.

Ramirez, Linden Phetxoumphone, Doolittle, Adrian Phetxoumphone and Griffin all went 2-0.

The Lynx return to action on Thursday with another NCC triangular involving Humboldt and Iowa Falls-Alden.
