Lynx boys drop road contest

PARKERSBURG — The Webster City boys were denied a 1-0 start to the season here Friday night, coming up short vs. Aplington-Parkersburg, 58-53.

A slow first quarter put the Lynx behind the Falcons early, as A-P led 12-4 after one. Webster City rallied in the second, cutting the deficit down to seven and made it a one-point game going into the third.

Between the second and third quarters of action, the Lynx outscored Aplington-Parkersburg, 34-27, but the Falcons held a 31-19 edge in the other two periods.

Briar Klaver scored a game-high 22 points, adding six rebounds. Braden Doering and Jack Larson each had eight points for the Lynx, as Jace Larson added four points and a team-high 13 rebounds.

Jack Larson also had 10 boards.

For the Falcons, Gavin Thomas scored 20 points with seven rebounds and Nick Neuroth added 12. Thomas recorded his 1,000th career point during the game.

Webster City heads to South Central Calhoun on Tuesday night.
