Busy stretch for Lynx

The Webster City wrestling team started off another busy stretch by taking on a pair of North Central Conference opponents at Hampton-Dumont/CAL Thursday night.

While the Lynx were able to top Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, 42-34, they suffered a 50-30 setback to the host Bulldogs.

Linden Phetxoumphone, Carson Doolittle and Luke Estlund each went 2-0 on the night with Brayden Burtnett, Gavin Wynkoop, Adison Scott, Tristan Mason, Landon Griffin, Isaac Firsching and Angel Ramirez scoring a one each.

“It was a good start to NCC competition, opening with two competitive teams right out of the gate,” WCHS head coach Drake Doolittle said. “We competed well and continue to make small adjustments that have big impacts. We still have a long way to go but team is showing up day in and day out to get better.”

On Saturday, the Lynx took part in the Grinnell Duals. Webster City posted a 2-1 record, easily handling Mount Pleasant (51-21) and Grinnell (48-21) before suffering a 43-25 setback versus Bondurant-Farrar.
