Lynx players honored in volleyball
Webster City’s Olivia Gallentine was one of four players to be honored by the North Central Conference this fall.
Gallentine made the all-NCC first team with Adeline Tesdahl on the second. Both Delainey Bargfrede and Adysen Poppen were third team picks for the Lynx.
First team selections from the area included unanimous pick Indy Johnson of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows along with Humboldt’s Mia Schluter and Kendall Works, Algona’s Najolie Price.
Xada Johnson of Clear Lake was the only other unanimous selection with Ella Sharar from Iowa Falls-Alden and Aubryee Showalter of Hampton-Dumont/CAL rounding out the first-team.
Along with Tesdahl on the second were Humboldt’s Macey Varangkounh and Tayla Wempen, Algona’s Lainey Venteicher and Macy Knapp, St. Edmond’s Ava Underberg and Elliot Ennis of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows.
Third team status went to Lauren McLaughlin of Algona and Ady Askelsen of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows and Sasha Hess of St. Edmond from the area.
Gallentine was fourth among all NCC players with 197 kills, Bargfrede ranked third in assists and Poppen fourth in total blocks and serving aces.
In conference-only matches, Gallentine had 81 kills with 14 blocks and 12 assists. Tesdahl recorded 61 kills, 107 digs, nine blocks and six aces while serving at 93 percent, Bargfrede had 53 kills, nine blocks, 69 digs and 12 aces, and Poppen finished with 32 kills, 27 blocks and 11 aces.
