Webster City’s volleyball season came to an end on Tuesday night, as it dropped a four-set match to Waverly-Shell Rock.

In the Class 4A first round regional game, the Lynx (15-20 overall) lost the first set, 25-22, but won the second, 25-20. The Go-Hawks (16-26) closed out the match with narrow victories of 25-22 and 25-23.

“It was a night between two very evenly-matched teams,” said WCHS head coach Jess Howard. “We had our opportunities to take steps forward in the match, but it didn’t go in our direction and we weren’t able to finish off rallies.”

Senior Adeline Tesdahl led the Lynx in attacking, going 30-for-39 with 10 kills. Junior Olivia Gallentine was 20 of 29 with nine kills.

Junior Marissa Hedeen was 18-for-22 with six kills, and senior Delainey Bargfrede was 26 of 32 with 17 kills.

Junior Cloe Savistski recorded 28 digs, followed by Tesdahl (18), Bargfrede (15) and senior Ava Peterson (six). Peterson contributed 25 assists.

Tesdahl was 25-for-26 serving with four aces, while senior Addyson Beaulieu was perfect at the service line in 13 tries.

Hedeen was 14 of 14 serving, Peterson was 11-for-11, Bargfrede was 12-for-13 and junior Adysen Poppen 9 of 10.

Seniors Tesdahl, Ellie Weinschenk, Beaulieu, Peterson and Bargfrede played their last match for the Lynx.

“We lose a very solid group of seniors,” Howard said. “They did a good job leading the program both on and off the court.

“There will be big shoes to fill.”
