Humboldt bounced back from a loss to Algona on the road by pummeling then-No. 1 Clear Lake, 34-0. Head coach Derrick Elman’s squad has won three of its last four overall to improve to 5-3.
The Wildcats are now ninth in the 3A RPI.
This Friday, Webster City and Humboldt square off at Lynx Field. The Lynx, Wildcats and Lions are tied atop the District 2 standings with 3-1 records.
Creston remains No. 1 in the 3A standings, followed by Solon, Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, Sioux Center, Clear Lake, Webster City, Sioux City Heelan, Humboldt and Nevada.
The Lynx also rejoined the Associated Press 3A Top-10 this week.
Algona (5-3) is 13th in the 3A RPI. Fort Dodge (4-4) is 20th in 4A. The Bulldogs finish the regular season on Friday at Hampton-Dumont/CAL; the Dodgers host Spencer.
