Webster City competes at Algona Invitational
ALGONA — The Webster City cross country teams were in action on Monday at the Algona Invitational.
The Lynx boys finished in 12th place overall. The girls were 13th.
“I’m really impressed with our times on a far more challenging course than last week,” WCHS head coach Derek Turner said. “We had many PRs (personal records) on both sides despite the increased difficulty of hills and rainy conditions.”
Sophomore Justin Callahan had the top individual performance for the Lynx, placing 30th in 18:11.96. Aiden Rahe (52nd, 19:03.92) and Jack Barner (57th, 19:12.30) followed.
On the girls side, freshman Izzy Grossoehme was 48th in 23:07.64. Rosemary Chamness (85th, 25:33.30) and Karina Murray (89th, 25:57.73) were next for Webster City.
“We were led again by Justin on the boys side with a strong Top-30 performance and Izzy again (paced) the girls,” Turner said.
The Webster City boys gave an impressive middle school performance, as the Lynx placed second. Kaleb Draeger was fourth in 12:50.91 to lead the Lynx, followed immediately by teammate Aiden Wardell (12:53.96).
Evan Patterson was 11th for Webster City in 13:16.56. Jordan Betts (19th, 13:45.33) and Daniel Murillo (20th, 13:46.60) also turned in Top-20 performances.
Taylor Helik was the lead Webster City girls middle school performer in 17:17.65, good for 46th place.
The Lynx return to action on Saturday at the South Hardin Invitational at the Pine Lake Country Club in Eldora at 9:30 a.m.
