Lynx compete in Mason City

MASON CITY — The Webster City cross country team was in action here at the Mason City Invitational on Tuesday.
The Lynx boys finished sixth overall as Lake Mills was first, while the WCHS girls placed seventh with the host Mohawks claiming gold.
Justin Callahan was the top individual finisher, placing 18th for Webster City in a time of 18:15. Aiden Rahe was 25th overall with Jack Barner placing 36th and Kyzer Zinnel 55th.
Leland Eggers finished 70th and Jesse Toftee was 75th.
“We had great races up and down the lineups,” WCHS head coach Derek Turner said. “We had lots of improvements in our splits as well as overall times. I really loved the way everyone competed throughout the race and finished.”
For the girls, Izzy Grossoehme was 19th overall with a time of 23:11 while Rosemary Chamness placed 43rd. Karina Murray was 49th, Lydia VanDeer 55th and Sydney Oswald was 56th.
“I was really impressed with our girls,” Turner said. “They have been working hard in practice and now are seeing the results of that.
“We also had a solid team race for the boys with a lot of PRs. This was a great step in the right direction as we enter the middle of our season.”
Webster City heads to Algona on Monday.
Bria Wallerich was the top junior varsity runner for the Lynx, placing 23rd. Caroline Ehn was 25th, Izzy McNiel 26th and Abby Peterson 28th.
