South Hamilton made a giant climb in the latest AP prep football poll, entering the Class 1A Top-5 this week.
On the heels of a convincing win over West Marshall, the Hawks are rated fifth.
Webster City moved up three spots after besting Spencer, as the Lynx are now sixth in 3A.
South Hamilton (2-0 overall) followed up a 20-14 win over South Hardin by taking down West Marshall last week, 48-13. The Hawks are now set to face Roland-Story (1-1) this Friday night from Gilbert High School.
After holding a slim 8-6 vs. West Marshall following 12 minutes of play, South Hamilton scored 14 in the second and 20 in the third to snap a three-game losing skid to the Trojans.
Once again, the ground attack was on-point, racking up 469 yards and seven touchdowns on 42 carries. Nick Severseike had 186 with two scores while five others found the end zone.
Roland-Story downed South Tama in Week 1 before falling to third-ranked (3A) Nevada last week, 42-7. The Norsemen are led by Hesston Johnson, as the senior has rushed for 243 yards and four touchdowns.
Webster City (2-0) had the same kind of performance in its 34-7 victory at Spencer, as Jaxon Cherry ran for 321 yards and had five touchdowns on 30 carries. The Lynx ran for 418 yards as a team, with Keegan Hisler adding 67 and Cael Nixon 30.
After wins over Fort Dodge and the Tigers, this will be the toughest test to date for Bob Howard and WCHS, as North Polk (2-0) sits fifth in 4A.
The Comets earned a 43-29 victory over Bondurant-Farrar in the opener before dropping Carlisle, 43-7. Isaac Zoske has thrown for 496 yards and eight touchdowns, with Colton Manock catching six passes for 208 and three scores.
BJ Tate balances out the aerial attack, rushing for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
This will be Homecoming for Webster City and the first meeting between the two programs.
