The Webster City cross country teams hosted the annual Lynx Invitational on Monday to open the 2023 season.

The Lynx girls placed seventh, while the boys came in eighth spot in the Purple division.

Gilbert (22) was the champion, with all five runners placing in the Top-10. Tiger Logan Bleich (16:40.73) was the individual gold medalist.

The Lynx boys placed three runners in the Top-30. Justin Callahan (19:16.66) had the top Lynx showing, crossing in 20th place. Jack Barner (19:59.02) was 26th and Aiden Rahe (20:30.70) finished 29th.

Kyzer Zinnel (22:23.44) and Leland Eggers (27:41.98) were in 51st and 61st, respectively, to round out the lineup.

The Webster City girls were seventh. Gilbert was the team champion on the girls side as well, with Tiger Clare Stahr (19:59.94) winning the individual race.

On the girls side, freshman Isabel Grossoehme turned in the top showing for the Lynx, placing 29th in 25:01.20.

Webster City’s Rosemary Chamness (28:11.56) and Karina Murray (28:29.45) placed 42nd and 44th, respectively. Sydney Oswald (30:17.05) and Lydia VanDeer (33:41.34) were 48th and 50th, respectively.

The Lynx return to action on Tuesday at Waverly-Shell Rock.
