Mixed bag for Webster City in softball
The Webster City softball team ended a busy stretch week with three losses at the Martensdale-St. Mary’s tournament.
The Lynx (10-14 overall), who played seven games in six days, went 3-4 in that stretch.
In Saturday’s tourney, they lost to second-ranked (1A) Martensdale-St. Mary’s (3-2), No. 12 (3A) Grinnell (12-1) and AHSTW (9-2).
On Thursday, they defeated Pocahontas Area 5-0.
‘In the loss to the Blue Devils, St. Mary’s took a 3-0 lead before the Lynx rallied for two in the sixth, but came up short.
Webster City had five hits in the game. Adeline Tesdahl had two hits, a double and an RBI.
Morgan Hackbarth also drove in a run.
Grinnell had a six run third and ended the contest in the fifth inning.
Bonnie Nohrenberg, Delainey Bargfrede, Ava Peterson and Cloe Savitski had hits for Webster City. Chloe Andersen scored the lone run.
The Lynx’s lone hit against the Vikings came from Livia Kasch. Kasch and Trinity Griffith both drove in runs.
The victory against the Indians on Thursday gave the Lynx two straight victories at that point. Webster City jumped on the board right away, scoring two in the first and building a 4-0 lead after three.
Webster City had five hits in the contest. Tesdahl, Nohrenberg, Bargfrede, Peterson and Anderson all had hits.
Tesdahl tallied a double. Nohrenberg, Bargfrede and Kasch all drove in runs.
Bargfrede tossed a one-hitter in the victory over PAC, facing one batter over the minimum. She struck out eight and walked one.
