Lynx come up short twice on the diamond
The Webster City baseball team ended last week with two non-conference losses.
The Lynx (10-13 overall) fell to West Marshall 11-6 on Thursday and lost to Boone 12-2 on Friday.
Webster City took an early lead against the Trojans with two runs in the bottom of the second. After five innings, West Marshall was still clinging to a 4-3 lead.
Seven combined runs were plated in the sixth, with the Trojans extending their advantage to 8-6 before they tacked on three insurance runs.
The Lynx pounded out 11 hits. Caden Plantz was 3-for-5, while Owen Siegert and DJ Ridout had two each.
Plantz had two doubles and drove in three runs. Ridout and Beckham Desotel recorded doubles as well.
AJ Dee, Siegert, Noah Desotel, Ridout and Beckham Desotel each drove in runs.
Three Lynx pitchers combined for seven strikeouts while only allowing three earned runs.
Boone jumped on the Lynx right away Friday, scoring three in each of the first two innings to build a 6-2 lead. They added five in the fourth and ended the contest with one in the fifth.
Webster City had five hits against the Toreadors. Matthew Tesdahl was 2-for-2. Briar Klaver, Connor Hanson and CJ Hisler also had hits.
Hanson tallied a double and drove in a run. Hisler also contributed an RBI.
