Webster City girls place 2nd in NCC triangular
HUMBOLDT — After dealing with tough competition in last weekend’s Kuemper Invitational, the Webster City girls’ golf team took to the road to take on a pair of North Central Conference opponents.
The Lynx were solid in their triangular with Humboldt and St. Edmond, held on Tuesday at the Humboldt Country Club, placing second with an overall score of 224.
Webster City did finish behind the Wildcats’ 213, but well ahead of the Gaels’ final tally of 275.
Senior Alley Odland paced the Lynx, taking third in the leaderboard with a total of 53. Junior Kennedy Halling was not too far behind, carding a 54.
Junior Ava Peterson recorded a 58 for the purple and gold, while senior Carly Appel and junior Claire Bailey each turned in 59s. Freshman Claryssa Hanson finished at 73.
Humboldt’s Noelle Hamand medaled at the meet with a 46, followed by Aries Packard’s 52.
The Lynx will be able to take a breather and continue to hone their skills through practice, before competing at the North Central Conference Girls Golf Tournament, set for 10 a.m. next Monday at Mason City Country Club. There, the purple and gold will see familiar foes in Algona, Clear Lake, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.
On the junior varsity side of the meet, senior Shelby Brim had 59, followed by freshman Alleyna Dawson’s 62 and sophomore Sophie Dinsdale’s 75.
