LIVERMORE — At the beginning of the 2023 spring season, South Hamilton girls’ golf coach Kathi Fisher knew that junior golfer Rebekah Carlson would find her way to the Class 1A Girls State Golf Tournament, set for May 25 and May 26 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

Carlson made good on that projection, and as a reward, doesn’t have to work too far to seek out greater goals on the links.

Carlson received her ticket to Class 1A’s signature meet, qualifying with a total score of 92 at the Class 1A-Region 2 Girls’ Golf Tournament, held on Wednesday at Spring Valley Golf Course.

The junior was fourth overall on the leaderboard, behind only Newell-Fonda’s Grace Erickson (84), Newell-Fonda’s Alexia Barber (85) and Newman Catholic’s Aubree Sellers (91).

The Mustangs (368) and Akron-Westfield (403) punched their tickets to the state golf meet on the team side of the regional final.

The Hawks collected 448 strokes as a collective.

Junior Abby Adamski finished her season with a 108, followed by senior Savanna Freeman’s 120. Freshman Arynn Luppes posted a 128, and senior Amanda Ostrem carded a 128 as well.

It was the final tournament of the season for Freeman and Ostrem, who will depart due to graduation.

Starting at $3.46/week.
