Wildcats spoil Lynx home opener

From an outsider’s perspective, the Webster City girls’ soccer team is going through a rough start to their 2023 spring campaign.

However, with each outing, the Lynx have given up fewer goals. All that’s left is to generate some offense, and convert those defeats into victories.

In short, they’re making progress.

The Lynx battled hard in their home opener in their home debut against Humboldt, before falling in a 2-0 decision on Monday evening at Lynx Field in Webster City.

Webster City conceded a score in the first half, before yielding another in the second stanza — despite a valiant effort from junior goalkeeper Joleah Stuhr.

With the setback, the Lynx dipped down to 0-3 overall, with a 0-2 record within the North Central Conference. Humboldt started their regular season at 1-0 in conference play, and 1-0 overall.

The purple and gold will be back in action on Thursday, welcoming NCC opponent Clear Lake to Lynx Field in Webster City. Kickoff between the Lynx and Lions is set for 5:30 p.m.

Clear Lake is currently 1-1 in conference play and overall.

Starting at $3.46/week.
