Webster City boys golf team continues making progress
Over the course of the 2023 campaign, the Webster City boys’ golf team has continued to cut down on their scores and improve on the course.
At the Woodward Boys’ Invitational earlier this month, the Lynx took fourth before finishing in between Kuemper Catholic and Panorama in Carroll.
At the highly competitive Spencer Invitational, the Lynx landed fifth overall.
In a North Central Conference dual, Webster City edged Clear Lake by four strokes at the Veterans Memorial Golf Club in Clear Lake.
With that momentum, the Lynx fared well against their North Central Conference brethren.
Facing off against Iowa Falls-Alden and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Monday at the Highland Golf Club in Iowa Falls, the Lynx topped both the Cadets and Cowboys with 165 total strokes.
The result bested IF-A’s 177 and C-G-D’s 186.
The best golfer on the course was sophomore Cael Nixon, who carded a 39. Junior duo Braylon Plain and Trevyn Lyons tied for second at 42 each, followed by teammate Brandon Lahr’s 47.
Senior Ty McKinney rounded out the Lynx scoring with 49.
This past Tuesday, the Lynx faced off against Greene County for a dual meet at the Jefferson Community Golf Course. Results from the meet will be reported in an upcoming edition of the Daily Freeman-Journal.
