Lynx golfers earn sweep vs. Rams
JEFFERSON — As the weather and landscapes began to beautify a bit, the Webster City golf teams took to the road, traveling south and west to play a non-conference opponent.
Facing off against Greene County on Tuesday at the Jefferson Community Golf Course, both the Lynx boys and girls collected victories over the Rams.
The Webster City boys came away with a narrow 173-177 win over the Rams, led by junior Braylon Plain’s 41. Sophomore Cael Nixon was close behind at 43, while junior Braden Doering carded a 44.
Sophomore Luke Firsching completed the course with A 45, while junior Trevyn Lyons added a 46. Sophomore Cole Miller rounded out the scoresheet at 47.
The Lynx boys continued their winning ways, topping the field over the past three meets.
The Webster City girls were stellar in the land of the Rams, running away with a 208-280 victory.
Senior Carly Appel and teammate Alley Odland both had 50s to medal at the meet, followed by junior Claire Bailey’s 51.
Junior Kennedy Halling turned in a 57, followed by freshman Claryssa Hanson’s 67.
Senior Shelby Brim finished the meet with 70.
With their second dual win, the Lynx girls improved to 2-1 in dual meets.
The Webster City girls are in for a busy weekend, facing off against North Central Conference foes Algona and Hampton-Dumont-CAL at 4:30 p.m. today at the River Road Golf Club in Algona. At 9 a.m. on Saturday, the Lynx girls will participate in the Kuemper Invitational, held at the Carroll Country Club.
At 4:30 p.m. today, the Lynx boys will head north and a little bit east, also playing Algona and Hampton-Dumont-CAL at the Hampton Country Club.
