WC girls welcome Wildcats to Jeff Gym

As of late, the Webster City girls’ basketball team has found a little bit of a stride. In fact, the Lynx have won two of the last three games.

This time around, they’ll have a challenge in the form of the Humboldt Wildcats.

Slated for 6:15 p.m. this evening at the historic Jefferson Gymnasium, the two North Central Conference foes will take to the hardwood. The remaining girls’ basketball games will take place at Jeff Gym, according to a Thursday announcement from WCCSD.

The Lynx (5-13, 2-9 NCC) are coming off of a 51-40 victory over Hampton-Dumont/CAL, which took place this past Tuesday in Hampton. Senior Alley Odland will look to capitalize on a strong performance against the Bulldogs, where she came away with 14 points.

Overall, Odland has averaged 6.8 points per contest, followed by teammate Livia Kasch’s 6.6 points per game and sophomore Olivia Gallentine’s 6.1 points per outing.

Humboldt (11-6, 8-3 NCC) have won their last two games, with their latest being a 20-point victory over Garner-Hayfield-Ventura this past Tuesday. Recently, the Wildcats have taken four of their past five games.

The Wildcats also boast two players who average double digits in sophomore Morgan Mann (19.5 ppg) and freshman Ava Fischer (11.8 ppg).

In their previous meeting, Humboldt defeated the Lynx by way of a 58-40 final score on Jan. 6 in Humboldt. The Wildcats have also won their last six meetings against Webster City.

Starting at $3.46/week.
