South Hamilton boys look to snap skid against Trojans

It’s been a little while since the South Hamilton boys’ basketball team has spent time in the win column. Tonight, the Hawks may have a chance to get that sweet taste of victory back.

In a Heart of Iowa Conference matchup, the Hawks will take to the road to face West Marshall at 7:30 p.m. at the West Marshall High School Gymnasium in State Center.

South Hamilton (7-9, 5-7 HoI) is looking to snap a five-game losing skid, which started on Jan. 17 against Greene County. The Trojans (8-11, 5-7 HoI) had their three-game winning streak snapped on Jan. 31 in a 53-33 loss against PCM in Monroe.

Both teams are also seeking to bump up to the top half of the league, as the Hawks and Trojans currently sit in the middle of the Heart of Iowa’s table.

The Hawks have been recently led by junior Reece Ricke, senior Landen Skartvedt and Owen Renaud, who put up 10 points each against Roland-Story this past Tuesday. Ricke leads the active roster in points per game with 10.1 points per contest.

West Marshall is paced by junior Owen Siegert (8.7 ppg), senior Anthony Schuler (8.3 ppg) and junior Andrew Tollefson (6.6 ppg).

Starting at $3.46/week.
