Lynx girls can’t slow C-G/D
CLARION — The Webster City girls were unable to make it 2-for-2 here Friday night, falling to Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, 77-43.
Cowgirl senior Lexie Lane scored a school-record 39 points, knocking down eight 3-pointers as Clarion-Goldfield/Dows completed a season sweep.
“Credit to Clarion because they have gotten a lot better since the first time we played them and have some girls that make it tough on you,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “And credit to Lexie Lane for the night she had; she’s a heck of a player and she had a night.”
Livia Kasch had 14 points and seven rebounds, knocking down four 3-pointers for the Lynx, while Joleah Stuhr added eight points and seven rebounds.
Marissa Hedeen sank three triples and scored 11 points with four boards.
The Lynx are now 4-13 overall and 2-9 in the North Central Conference. The Cowgirls improved to 8-9 and 6-5.
“I am extremely proud of the way our girls battled,” Fisher said. “The score might not show it, but this was one of our best games yet. This group just keeps showing every day, playing better and better.
“We were short-handed again and got even more short-handed in the second half, but we just kept battling and just kept playing.”
The Lynx return to action on Monday when they head to Hampton-Dumont/CAL. The Bulldogs won in Webster City back in December, 41-39.
