WEBSTER CITY — A tough third quarter here Tuesday night kept the Webster City girls from really challenging South Central Calhoun.

The Titans used a 25-6 run in the quarter out of the break to score a 61-31 victory over the Lynx.

Livia Kasch had eight points with five rebounds, while Chloe Anderson added seven points, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. Kasch also had two triples on the night.

“Give South Central Calhoun a ton of credit,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “They have two very good ball players in (Riley) Batta and (Kylee) Schleisman, and they are tough to guard.

“For us, we just need to continue to look to build on the good things we did.”

Alley Odland, Olivia Gallentine and Adysen Poppen each scored four for Webster City, with Poppen recording nine rebounds. Gallentine had five rebounds, with Addyson Beaulieu and Reese Casey each scoring two.

“A big thing for us right now is improving each possession and learning to play with more confidence,” Fisher said. “If we can trust in our games and trust in the work we have done and the ball players we can be, we have a chance to really be good.

“And that’s something that I have to do better at getting out of them. This group has worked hard in practice and has shown signs of being a very good ball club, but I have to find a way to get that to better translate to game days.”

For South Central Calhoun, who qualified for state last year, Batta scored 27 points with six rebounds, while Schleisman added 15. Olivia Toms scored nine and Breanne Patterson had five rebounds.

The Lynx return to action on Friday against Algona in North Central Conference action.

Starting at $3.46/week.
