Lynx cruise in season opener
WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City boys kicked off their season in a big way, running past Pocahontas Area here Thursday night by a final score of 82-34.
The Lynx (1-0 overall) led 28-7 after the first quarter and pushed their advantage to 45-13 by the break.
Returning all-North Central Conference guard Jaime Grossoehme scored a game-high 29 points, while Briar Klaver added 23.
Webster City has won six of eight in the series with Pocahontas Area, a contender for the Twin Lakes Conference title on a yearly basis. That includes three consecutive victories.
Up next for the Lynx will be South Central Calhoun, another TLC team, on Tuesday back here at 7:45 p.m. Webster City begins North Central Conference play on Friday at St. Edmond.
