Webster City competes in Mason City

MASON CITY — Webster City’s cross country squads ran at the Mason City Invitational on Tuesday.

The Lynx boys finished in sixth place in the team standings, as the host Riverhawks claimed the title followed by Forest City and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Mason City, Forest City and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura were the top three in the girls’ standings. Webster City did not field a complete girls lineup.

Emma Peck led the Lynx girls across the 5K course in 24:58.80. Brayden Henely was the top Webster City boys performer with a time of 19:16.54.

“It was a challenging meet for everyone involved due to some very high temperatures. I’m very proud of the effort on both sides,” said Lynx head coach Derek Turner. “Despite the conditions, we had some really nice performances. I,m really happy to see some more pack running on the boys’ side, and hope we can continue to build on that.”

The Lynx return to action on Monday at Algona.
