WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City volleyball squad came out of the gate with a task to complete and dominated Iowa Falls-Alden 3-0 Thursday night in North Central Conference volleyball action.

The Lynx disposed of the Cadets by scores fo 25-11, 25-11 and 25-6, improving to 6-4 on the year and 1-1 in league play. IF-A dropped to 2-7 and 0-2.

“I thought we maintained our intensity throughout the night which can sometimes be difficult in a match like this “said Lynx Coach Jess Howard. “We were able to insert quite a few people in our rotations and get them some court action.”

The Lynx jumped out early in set one using kills by Reese Casey and Livia Kasch to lead 9-3 before the teams traded the next 16 points. Leading 17-11, WCHS reeled off the final eight points of the set to win.

Senior Sierra Rattenborg, who suffered a knee injury in the off-season, saw her first action of year during the contest playing in all three sets. With the Lynx leading 5-4 in the second she came in to serve and helped push the lead to 19-4 before the Cadets could register a side out.

Webster City kept the pressure up during the third set and kept the Cadets at bay, never allowing them to develop any offensive rhythm and won going away.

“Our serve reception was much improved over the Humboldt match,” commented Howard. “Our outside hitters were also more effective. The girls never let Iowa Falls-Alden get into any type of flow and kept them off balance all night.”

The Lynx are back in action on Thursday when they host Algona.
