GIRLS GOLF BRIEFS
ODLAND RUNNER-UP FOR LYNX: Humboldt’s Nora Carlson was in control of her game en route to the medalist honor, and she led her team to a North Central Conference girls’ golf victory at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge on Tuesday.
Carlson shot a 41 and was nine strokes clear of her closest competitor.
Humboldt posted a 198 to win the triangular handily. Webster City was second with a 235 and St. Edmond was unable to register a team score due to only having three players in the field.
Alley Odland paced WCHS with a 50, and she won a card-off against Humboldt’s Noelle Hamand to claim the runner-up medalist distinction. Katie Casady added a 53 for the Lynx, while Carly Appel and Addie Hayes both shot rounds of 66.

DEPPE, YOUNG GO 1-2 FOR HAWKS: Miranda Deppe and Grace Young shared the top spot on the individual leaderboard, as they led the South Hamilton girls’ golf team to a second-place finish in a three-team meet at the Jewell Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.
West Marshall prevailed with a 206, three shots in front of the Hawks (209). Ballard (216) was at the back of the pack.
Deppe and Young, two of the seniors on the team, were joined at the top of the leaderboard by West Marshall’s Ella Meyer. Deppe was awarded the medalist honor on a cardback, and Young was the runner-up.
Rebekah Carlson added a 52 and Amanda Ostrem rounded out South Hamilton’s team score with a 63.
