BRIEFS: LYNX SOCCER

LYNX BOYS BLANK CADETS: Two first-half goals and two more after the intermission gave the Webster City boys’ soccer team a sixth consecutive victory at Lynx Field in Webster City last night.

WCHS (9-5, 7-5 NCC) controlled the ball en route to a 4-0 win over North Central Conference rival Iowa Falls-Alden. The Lynx swept the two-match season series.

“A pretty dominant performance,” WCHS head coach Craig Signorin said. “It just looked like we handled the heat a lot better. We were first to the ball a lot. Super proud of the boys.”

Eduardo Perez scored three goals and Sam Moberly added one in the shutout victory. Eddy Fuentes, Isaac Haule and Everado Hernandez all had assists.

Moberly’s penalty kick in the fifth minute put WCHS in front to stay. Perez made it 2-0 in the 34th off Fuentes’ assist.

Perez took a nice feed from Haule and blasted the ball into the net in the 60th to make it 3-0 an then tacked on his third goal less than four minutes later.

NO. 15 IF-A HANDLES LYNX: No. 15-ranked (Class 1A) Iowa Falls-Alden broke open a scoreless match with three goals in a six-minute span of the second half and rolled to its 10th straight win, 6-0, over Webster City in a North Central Conference girls’ soccer bout last night in Iowa Falls.

Abby Ites and Adessa Gillespie scored two goals each for the Cadets (14-2).

WCHS goalkeeper Addy Beaulieu made 14 saves in the loss.
