PREP TENNIS AND GOLF BRIEFS

LYNX GIRLS TENNIS NOW 4-0: The Webster City girls’ tennis team stayed unbeaten on the season with a 7-2 non-conference win over Saydel in a dual meet on its home courts last Thursday.

Kayley Wibholm, Makaylee Draeger, Trinity Griffith and Jordyn Sullivan all claimed singles wins to stake the Lynx to an early 4-2 lead.

WCHS (4-0) swept the three doubles matches. Draeger and Mackenzie Burney pulled out a tiebreaker win, while the duos of Wibholm and Joslin Gourley, and Griffith and Sullivan rolled to easy wins.

WCHS BOYS TENNIS SWEPT: With only four players available, the Webster City boys’ tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to Clear Lake last Thursday.

Three of the Lions’ wins came via forfeits.

Carter Koeppen, Chase Black, Jayden Wibholm and Hank Christenson all dropped straight-set matches.

HAWK GOLFERS 3RD: The South Hamilton girls’ golf team shot a 434 and finished third out of four teams at last Thursday’s Norsemen Invite in Story City.

Roland-Story (368) won its home invite by eight shots over West Marshall (376). North Polk (449) was fourth.

Grace Young (102) led South Hamilton. Miranda Deppe (103) and Rebekah Carlson (105) weren’t far off the pace, and Amanda Ostrem (124) posted a counting score as well.
