Cadets take control in doubles, sneak by Lynx on courts
IOWA FALLS — Iowa Falls-Alden took two of three doubles matches to break a 3-3 tie and knock off Webster City, 5-4, in a boys’ tennis dual meet here Monday afternoon.
The North Central Conference rivals split the six singles matches, but the Lynx (4-6) were unable to gain the upper hand when it went to doubles in their regular season finale.
IF-A (8-4) set a school record for the most regular season wins with the victory.
Heath Patterson, Walter Moreira-Suarez and Chase Black were all singles winners in straight sets for WCHS. Patterson downed Cody Hickethier 6-3 and 6-4. Moreira-Suarez took care of Aaron Halverson 6-3 and 6-2. Black dropped just two games in a 6-0, 6-2 rout of James Crouse.
George Vila and Brody Henderson gave the Lynx one doubles victory, as they swept Halverson and Crouse 6-3 and 6-4.
