Young and Deppe go 1-2, Hawks best Eagles and Gaels

JEWELL — The South Hamilton girls’ golf team shot a season-low score on its home course and came away victorious in a triangular meet Monday evening.

The Hawks’ 212 at the Jewell Golf and Country Club was 25 shots better than runner-up Saydel (237) and 50 stokes better than St. Edmond (262).

“I was very pleased with our team score,” South Hamilton coach Kathi Fisher said. “Our short game was really working for us. Our putting average is going down, which is helping our team and individual (scoring) tremendously.”

Grace Young claimed the medalist honor with a 49, as she finished two shots ahead of her South Hamilton teammate and meet runner-up Rebekah Carlson (51). Miranda Deppe was more shot back with a 52; Paige Jewell and Amanda Ostrem both carded rounds of 60.

Madison Rice led Saydel with a 53. Lilian Shin was St. Edmond’s low girl with a 58.
