Rattenborg breaks 40, wins medalist honor

Lynx knock off HDC, Algona in triangular

WEBSTER CITY — Chase Rattenborg was back in the Webster City boys’ golf lineup yesterday and he played his way to the top of the individual leaderboard in a North Central Conference triangular at The Links.

Rattenborg was the only player to break 40, as he led the Lynx to a meet victory over Hampton-Dumont/CAL and Algona. WCHS posted a 166 to win easily. HDC was second with a 190, followed by Algona with a 201.

The WCHS junior varsity team actually finished third; it put up a 188.

Rattenborg avoided trouble on his way to a 39 and two-shot win over teammate and runner-up Garrett Arnold (41). Trey Lyons and Beau Klaver shared third place overall, as both shot rounds of 43.

Devon Stoakes (46) and Drew Schwering (48) rounded out the varsity roster.

Trey Shannon was the low stick for the Lynx JV, as he carded a 44.

Tommy Birdsell led HDC with a 44 and James Wartick was Algona’s top player with a 45.

Algona (201) — James Wartick 45, Patrick Louscher 49, Logan Meendering 53, Luke Carter 54, Evan Deal 58, Spencer Long 61.

Medalist — Rattenborg (WC). Runner-up — Arnold (WC).
