GOLF, TRACK BRIEFS

LYNX GOLFERS 6TH AT SPENCER: The Webster City boys’ golf team continued to show consistency at yesterday’s Spencer Invite, it just lacks that one player that can challenge par that would push the team up the leaderboard.

The Lynx had five players separated by just two strokes en route to a sixth-place finish. They carded a 345, just one shot out of fifth. Spirit Lake fired a 312 to win handily over runner-up Clear Lake (335).

Chase Rattenborg, Trey Lyons and Drew Schwering all shot rounds of 86 for WCHS. Garrett Arnold was one shot behind with an 87 and Beau Klaver posted an 88.

HAWK BOYS 4TH AT HOME MEET: Austin Busch threw the shot put and discus at the Drake Relays yesterday morning and afternoon, and then raced back to Jewell to win gold in both events at the Hawk Relays.

That’s a heckuva day.

His two gold medals were half of South Hamilton’s first-place haul and it finished fourth in the team race with 86 points. Roland-Story (1271⁄2) was the meet champion.

Busch won the shot put with a toss of 53 feet, 4 inches, and the discus with a heave of 126-11.

Tanner Blue was the 110-meter high hurdles victor (15.40) as well as the 400 hurdles runner-up (1:00.06).

Brock Galetich, Kyler Hodnefield, Freddie Lewis and Ty Skartvedt joined forces to win the distance medley relay (3:49.89). Galetich was also second in the 200 (23.33) and on the anchor of the 4×400 (3:36.57) that also included the same teammates as the medley.
