GIRLS GOLF BRIEFS

LYNX GIRLS OPEN WITH WIN: The seniors and the coach celebrated a first for the Webster City girls’ golf team Tuesday afternoon at The Links in Webster City.

Behind a meet medalist performance from Katie Casady, one of the team’s seniors, the Lynx handed new head coach Billy Bertran his first dual-meet victory. WCHS posted a team total of 215 to easily putt its way past Manson-Northwest Webster (253) by 38 strokes.

Casady and fellow senior Jayde Bertran were on the wining side of a dual meet for the first time in their careers as well.

“The senior girls were really excited,” Billy Bertran said. “What a great way to start the year for Katie. Her commitment to practice and offseason play have helped contribute to her having success as her golf game continues to be more consistent.”

Casady avoided trouble on the relatively flat terrain to post a score of 47, seven shots clear of runner-up Aubree Jones (54) of Manson-Northwest Webster.

Alley Odland (55), Ella Dinsdale (56), Carly Appel (57) and Jayde Bertran (59) occupied the Nos. 3-6 spots on the leaderboard to push WCHS across the finish line.
